How to instantly boost your WiFi

December 20, 2021

If your WiFi isn’t performing like usual, it probably needs a boost. There are immediate ways you can tell:

  • Websites take forever to load
  • Apps won’t refresh or post content
  • Your favorite Netflix show keeps buffering
  • Work video calls are choppy and cut out

And many more instances.

Fortunately, when this happens, it doesn’t always mean calling that you must call your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for an expensive technician visit. A lot of the time, you just need to check a few things about how your network is set up and try some of these tips to boost your network signal and speeds.

Tips for Getting Better WiFi Signal & Speed in Minutes

To boost your WiFi signal yourself, try these tricks:

  1. Move your router – You will want your router in a central location, off the floor, and not blocked by walls, doors, or anything else. This gives your router a direct line of sight to send out a strong signal.
  2. Connect to the 5GHz frequency band – Try changing your frequency from 2.4GHz to 5GHz, since it is a less busy channel.
  3. Update your router’s firmware – Try updating your router’s firmware. Outdated devices perform slower. Also, this will help keep your network and devices safe.
  4. Use an Ethernet adapter to boost your signal – If the tips above don’t completely solve the problem, the issue might be lack of coverage. Try using a WiFi booster like MoCA adapters (also called Ethernet over Coax). These helpful devices extend the reach of your Ethernet, and when you connect your router, your WiFi signal can reach further, creating a blanket of coverage in your home to eliminate weak signal areas.

Looking to boost your WiFi? MoCA technology is the way to go. You can enhance your WiFi connection in every corner of your home with HT-EM4 MoCA adapters.
