How do I activate Internet service on my Hitron CODA cable modem?
1 – Visit your cable Internet provider’s website and follow the instructions to activate your Internet service.

2 – If you are unable to activate your Internet service using the instructions on your cable Internet provider’s website, please call your cable Internet provider.
a – You may be asked to provide your account information and your cable modem’s model number, serial number, and MAC address. The serial number and MAC address are on the product label on the rear panel of your cable modem.
b – Your cable Internet provider will need to confirm that your cable modem is active.
c – If you do not get an Internet connection with your cable modem, ask your cable Internet provider to verify if your cable modem is online.
c1 – If the cable modem is not visible to your Internet provider, your cable Internet provider can give you instructions to verify why the cable modem does not connect with your high-speed Internet service.
c2 – If the cable modem is visible to your cable Internet provider, reboot your cable modem and check your online status again.
What lights should be on my CODA cable modem?

I have No Internet Connection
- Make sure that you have activated your Internet Service with your Internet Service Provider. To activate your Internet service, visit your cable Internet provider’s website and follow the instructions to activate your Internet service.
- Check that the coaxial cable connections are secure at the modem and at the coax outlet.
- Check the Ethernet connections are secure at the modem and at the computers’ Ethernet port.
- Power off your modem for at least 10 seconds and then power it back on.
- Restart your computer or router connected to the cable modem. This ensures that they receive a correct IP address from the modem.
Troubleshooting - POWER LED Off
- Press the POWER button once to see if the LED is on and if the equipment turns on.
- Make sure that the power adapter is securely connected to your modem and securely connected to a working electrical outlet.
- Check that the electrical outlet is working. Is the outlet controlled by a light switch?
- Check that you are using the power adapter that HITRON supplied for this product.
- If the problem remains, it could be an issue with the power adaptor.
Note: Only use a supplied HITRON power adapter to avoid any potential equipment damages. If the problem persists, contact technical support for help at https://us.hitrontech.com/support.
Troubleshooting - LAN LED Off
- Check that the power to the modem is ON and that both ends of the Ethernet cable are securely connected to the modem and computer.
- Check that you are using the Ethernet cable that HITRON supplied for this product.
- If the problem remains, it could be that the Ethernet cable is damaged.

- Check that the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the modem.
- If the problem remains, please contact your Internet Service Provider.

- Check that the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the modem.

Troubleshooting - Online LED Off
The modem is offline and not connected to the Internet.
- Make sure that you have activated your Internet Service with your Internet Service Provider.
- Check that the coaxial cable connections are secure at the modem and at the coax outlet.
- Check the Ethernet connections are secure at the modem and at the computers’ Ethernet port.
- Power off your modem for at least 10 seconds and then power it back on.
- Restart your computer or router connected to the cable modem. This ensures that they receive a correct IP address from the modem.
- Check your modem by plugging it in to a different coax outlet.
- Check if you have a splitter (a splitter is a small device that has a single coax cable on one side and 2 coax cables on the other side.) between your cable modem and the coax outlet. Remove the splitter and connect the cable modem directly to the coax outlet. If bypassing the splitter fixes the problem, you should probably get a new/better splitter that supports frequencies up to 1000 MHz.

How do I restart my CODA cable modem?
1 – Restarting or rebooting your CODA cable modem resets your cable modem to your existing settings.
To restart or reboot your CODA cable modem:
- Insert the end of a paper clip or other small object with a narrow tip into the Reset opening on the back of your CODA modem.
- Press and hold the Reset button for three or four seconds only to reset the CODA. The CODA resets, using your existing settings.
How do I Factory Reset my CODA cable modem?
Restore (resets to Factory Default Settings) the cable modem.
*NOTE: If you restore the CODA, any modified settings cannot be recovered
- Insert the end of a paper clip or other small object with a narrow tip into the Reset opening of the back of your CODA modem.
- Press and hold the Reset button for 10 seconds or more to restore* the CODA back to its factory default settings.
- *NOTE: If you restore the CODA, any modified settings cannot be recovered.
How do I test my modem speed?
To check your modem’s Internet speed, use a speed test server, such as speedtest.net:
- Open a web browser.
- Type in the URL speedtest.net.
- Click on the “GO” icon in the middle of the page. The speed test will first test your download speed, then it will test your upload speed.
What if I'm told that my CODA cable modem isn't approved for my cable Internet service?
Hitron’s CODA cable modem is certified by CableLabs®, and is currently approved for use on Comcast Xfinity, Charter Spectrum, Cox Gigablast, CableOne Sparklight and Zito Media networks. ALWAYS check with your Internet service provider’s web site or speak with someone from your Internet service provider to verify compatibility. For example, use this link to see the modems that are approved by Comcast xFinity. Just enter "CODA" in the top left search bar that says "Search for Devices".
Can both Gigabit Ethernet ports be used at the same time?
The CODA cable modem has two Gigabit Ethernet ports. Each Gigabit port can provide an IP address if supported/provided by your Internet Service Provider. The CODA is a cable modem and does not provide routing functions.
