How do you know if you need a new modem?

September 2, 2021

Slow or no Internet is never something you want to happen. The issue could be your internet cable modem. But how do you know when it is time to get a new internet cable modem?

Here’s a checklist for you to determine if your cable modem is the issue.  Are you experiencing any of the following?

  • You can’t connect to the internet
  • Your Internet connection randomly drops out
  • You frequently have to reset or restart your modem
  • Your streaming is lagging
  • Your internet speeds are inconsistent
  • Your modem’s indicator light remains unlit
  • Your modem runs constantly hot
  • Your modem is over 5 years old

There can be many reasons why you may need to replace your modem. However, replacing your modem isn’t a necessarily a bad thing – it can have upsides for you and your home network. Newer modems have a variety of improvements, including faster download speeds, faster uplink speeds, enhanced streaming capabilities, DOCSIS 3.1 capabilities and more.

Hitron’s CODA DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem can replace your dying modem and give you download speeds up to 10 Gbps that will deliver the speeds that your Cable Service Provider has today and the speeds they will offer in the future. In fact, a DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem can “future-proof” your connection by always delivering the fastest possible speeds.

The Hitron CODA DOCSIS 3.1 Cable Modem is available for purchase on Amazon.  Need more information about cable modems, cable routers, or other home networking solutions?  Check out Hitron’s Learn Cable Modems and Routers page.
