Enter the Mobile Market
Quickly Deploy 5G Using your Existing Infrastructure
Today, you are your customer’s broadband provider. Tomorrow, you can also be their mobile provider. By pairing Hitron’s 5G backhaul solutions with a small cell gateway, operators can leverage their existing plant infrastructure spanning thousands of miles to offer customers wireless service. You can quickly cover an entire market, faster, easier and cheaper than you’d ever imagine.
5G Transport Over HFC and PON
Your existing network infrastructure offers many key advantages for wireless backhaul, including swift deployment and scalability of your coverage footprint.
For HFC Backhaul deployments, power is already available on the existing coax cable, meaning you can easily power a small cell deployment without extra permitting or electrical work. Initial studies have shown that using HFC as a backhaul is substantially cheaper than fiber (PON) – with a 20x faster time to market.
For PON Backhaul deployments, electrical power is only required at the endpoints. PON offers ease of construction and permitting due to existing support structures and access agreements. This means lower-cost and faster 5G deployment into your existing footprint.

5G Time Synchronization Solutions
Global network timing is critical for cellular voice and Time Division Duplex (TDD) networks like TDD-LTE and 5G. Without synchronization, you’ll get cross-link interference and a poor customer experience. That’s where Timing Synchronization Frequency comes in – specifically, DOCSIS Time Protocol (DTP) and Precision Timing Protocol (PTP). DTP and PTP enable the passing of networking timing over DOCSIS 3.1 networks and PON networks respectively, providing precise frequency and time to devices connected to a DTP or PTP enabled device. In short, Hitron’s solutions make it possible to use either your DOCSIS or Fiber infrastructure as a backhaul for 5G and TDD-LTE services.
Faster, Cost-Effective 5G Deployment
Leveraging the latest innovations in Timing Synchronization and network transport, operators can quickly deploy a cost-efficient 5G, LTE mobile offering into market. Hitron’s ONT/ONU solutions support DOCSIS DPoE 2.0 for seamless integration with your DOCSIS provisioning, billing and management systems. Hitron’s innovative solutions have been developed in close partnership with CableLabs, Cisco and cable operators to open the door for cable operators to enter the mobile market and grow subscribers and revenue.
