How to Increase WiFi Speed with a MoCA Network

Learn > MoCA > How to Increase WiFi Speed with a MoCA Network

There are many ways to increase your WiFi speed. One of which is with the help of a MoCA network.

A MoCA network is capable of providing speeds up to 1 Gbps to your end devices.  When you connect your WiFi router to this extremely fast and reliable wired network, your WiFi speeds and performance greatly improves.  This wired network also helps to de-congest your home WiFi network, giving you a two-fold benefit. The MoCA network does the heavy lifting for bandwidth-hungry devices so that every other connected device (smartphone, tablet, laptop, IoT devices, etc.) can perform better. This is what “creating a MoCA backbone” for your home network means. And it’s easy to do.

Creating a MoCA Backbone for Faster WiFi

Creating a MoCA backbone for your home network requires creating a MoCA network, also called an Ethernet over coax network. To do this, you need at least two MoCA adapters to get going.

What MoCA adapters do is convert your coaxial cable TV wiring in your home in to an Ethernet network backbone, making your Internet and WiFi connection speeds faster and more reliable. They do this by physically connecting to one another and to your Ethernet device of choice, while also transmitting data along the coaxial wiring in your walls. It sounds technical (and the inner workings are) but what you need to know is that setting this up only takes two easy steps:

Step 1: Take one of the MoCA adapters (like these HT-EM4 adapters) and one Ethernet cable. Connect one end of the MoCA adapter into a coax TV outlet and, using the Ethernet cable, connect the other end to your router.

Step 2: Take the second HT-EM4 MoCA adapter and connect it to any other coax outlet in your home. It should establish a MoCA network link automatically with the router.

With MoCA adapters, you can enjoy wireless Internet and also get a wired network experience with reliable, solid Internet connection.

Create A Faster Home Network

The goal with MoCA is to get better Internet coverage in your home, but also to get a faster network. With faster WiFi, your Internet performs better and your experiences on your network are better. Things like:

Better WiFi coverage which increases your network speeds to boost your Wi-Fi so that you don’t have to deal with signal drops and slow speeds that cause frustrating interruptions.

Better 4K & HD Video Streaming without interruption like buffering or freezing.

Better Online Gaming with no lag and latency stays low so the actions in your game play are always in real time.

Better Experience Working from Home means smooth, seamless connection to do your job even when the rest of the household is also connected to the Internet at the same time.

By simply using HT-EM4 MoCA adapters, you can make your WiFi connection faster and Internet experience better to every corner of your home.
