This partnership features ATX’s ultra-high split GigaXtend®1.8GHz amplifiers, Harmonic cOS™ virtualized broadband platform with Ripple modular DAA node, Harmonic Pebble-2 DOCSIS 4.0 Unified RPD and Hitron CODA60V, a DOCSIS 4.0 eMTA that supports multi-gigabit data and carrier-grade VoIP in a single device. The deployment validates a collaborative commitment to enabling seamless transitions to next-gen broadband technologies.
“This is a signal to the industry that we are delivering on the promise of DOCSIS 4.0” said Jess Zelaya, SVP of Sales & Marketing at ATX. “Connection is good for the industry and this collaboration brings us closer to the common goal of enabling affordable and reliable broadband for everyone, everywhere.”
The CODA60V, unveiled in late 2023, along with its data-only twin, the CODA60, is a compact yet highly effective platform that is capable of supporting up to 8 OFDM(A) downstream and 4 OFDMA upstream channels, real multi gigabit capability. It’s voice band integrated voice capability makes it ideal for operators who want to continue to offer legacy voice services while enhancing broadband speed and reliability.
ATX’s amplifiers —the most extensively deployed 1.8GHz base in the industry with 300,000 amplifiers shipped and nearly a dozen active customers — are complemented by ATX GigaXtend® Orchestrator, a highly intuitive and award-winning management software.
“Mediacom strives to be at the forefront of technology, and this partnership with ATX, Harmonic, and Hitron creates a foundation for others to follow.” said JR Walden, CTO of Mediacom Communications. “Our DOCSIS 4.0 rollout is more than just faster speeds—it’s making sure the communities we serve have access to the most advanced broadband technology available”.
“Harmonic is proud to be part of this groundbreaking collaboration, pushing the boundaries of broadband technology with our innovative Unified DOCSIS 4.0 solutions,” said Jeff Glahn, SVP Global Sales at Harmonic. “The deployment of our cOS platform with Ripple DAA node and Pebble-2 DOCSIS 4.0 Unified RPD underscores our commitment to delivering high-speed, reliable connectivity that meets the evolving needs of consumers and businesses alike.”
“Hitron is honored to play a key role in this milestone deployment,” said Greg Fisher, President and CTO of Hitron Technologies. “The CODA60V demonstrates how DOCSIS 4.0 can deliver both multi-gigabit data and seamless voice in a single device—helping operators like Mediacom maximize their existing HFC networks while bringing next-gen broadband to communities that need it most.”
Powerful Benefits for Mediacom Communities
This DOCSIS 4.0 launch supports Mediacom’s commitment to digital equity by bringing fiber-like Internet performance to communities of all sizes—especially in areas where access has historically been limited. Key benefits include:
- Symmetrical multi-gigabit Internet ideal for remote work, virtual learning, healthcare access, and e-commerce
- Lower latency and higher reliability using Harmonic’s fully virtualized software-defined architecture
- Seamless legacy voice support with Hitron’s integrated eMTA
- Future-ready scalability to 10 Gbps and beyond, without requiring new fiber drops
Mediacom’s DOCSIS 4.0 deployment proves that cable operators can bridge the digital divide by leveraging their existing HFC networks—delivering high-speed broadband where it’s needed most. Expansion across additional markets is already underway for 2025.
